Artist Statement
Never Alone is an ongoing multimedia concept series utilizing different forms, such as photography, film, and comics. “Never Alone” works to capture the incessant nature of language and objects projected throughout everyday life, whether we take notice of it or not. The interactions we have without familiar humans may amplify the frequency levels of solitude we may feel, however, Never Alone argues that traveling in the mundane equally offers social connection, juxtaposed escapism, and artistic compliance. Placing an emphasis on technology but primarily on media, this project works to find places of oddity that elicit simplified modes of interaction, varying from the words that sing to us on a pair of earbuds, the strangers brushing past us, the age old graffiti that lends a phrase or pin of advice, or a machine that replaces a human’s job. We are never alone- attesting for the intertwinement and endless livelihood of poetry and art surrounding us. In an empty room of people, there is a waking set of unlimited indexical objects preserving songs, stories, and interpretation. In an empty room of analog, there ruptures new technology saluting you from a set of computerized images. The celebration of art that comforts us or the eerie realization of a rising technological world that may hinder our sense of self in our routines, the motion exhibited in “Never Alone” is up for individual interpretation.
